It’s Easter time. You’re the parent of a young child and you open your front door to a piece of card laying on the ground that catches your eye. It’s got handwriting and drawings all over it. Someone must have dropped it by accident? You look around to see if anyone’s watching and then you pick it up. It’s a personal message to someone so of course you read it! You realise that it’s a Rice Krispies Easter cake recipe being highly recommended from one Mum to another.
Guerilla Marketing or litter you decide, but the production values of this piece were so good we had to grab our eyeglass to confirm that it was printed. We’re not sure the slug trail or even the rain damaged type were intentional but it definitely helped with the overall illusion. Well done to all involved, including the slug.

Stiff Rowlands were very pleased to be in attendance at Nick Bell’s sold out D&AD President’s Lecture at Manchester Odeon last Thursday, 13th March. A captive audience in the packed Screen 18 were treated to Nick’s multi award winning work for international clients. However, we were more intrigued by his slides of the unsuccessful pitch for Manchester United FC. Curiosity got the better of us during the Q&A session that followed and we asked whether integrity would prevent him from changing the badge and colourways to those of Chelsea FC if the money was right. The 10 minute answer that followed was, to be honest, a bit of a blur and we’re not even sure that the man himself actually understood it (apologies to any audience members whose bladders were fit to burst and parking meters due to expire by this stage). Undeterred we caught up with Nick post-lecture to get some clarification. We got an immediate apology for the ramble from a very friendly Nick but more importantly our answer. Any guesses what it was?

Our Paul has been a busy boy since we redesigned his website in 2006. The site now features all new work, ready for your viewing pleasure. See if you can spot our very own Simon (Rowlands) sporting his favourite woolly jumper for a certain Cuthberts Hairdressing ad. We think he would be better suited to What Not to Knit instead!
