We’ve recently worked with Manchester United TV and Sky on a pre-season marketing campaign. It included Direct Mail with a personalised letter from Sir Alex Ferguson. He’s a huge fan of MUTV but not of stamps, so we put those on the envelopes. We also produced welcome emails and follow-up emails highlighting the programmes to look forward to and provide direction to key sections of the MUTV website.

The Greenwich Festivals: Summer Sessions are a new outdoor concert series taking place this July in the beautiful grounds of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, London.
Working with The Cogency, we were tasked with the creation of the four day event’s branding and advertising including flyers, press ads, posters, street banners, a screen advert and a website which you can check out here.

As huge coffee lovers there were big smiles when Tank Coffee asked us for some pointers on their branding. Inspired by the movie Black Gold, the collective “who care as much about the farmers, as they do about the flavour” jumped on a plane to Ethiopia and Kenya to meet the coffee bean farmers:
“We wanted to know where our coffee was coming from, who was growing it, how much they were getting, and who else was in the supply chain before it got to us.”
“We wanted to see with our own eyes what each farmer was really getting for their hard work and harvest. To make sure our coffee was as fresh as can be, we also wanted to roast the coffee ourselves.”
Our good friend Jez Clark is part of the collective and has created some wonderful copy and a great tone of voice. Reading about the farmer who grows the bean, its journey and the name of the roaster (Garth), makes buying coffee interesting and rewarding. The website is still in its infancy but don’t let that stop you ordering. We’re currently buzzing on the Ethiopian Sidamo Grade 2. Mmmmmm.

Having recently designed a schedule advert template for MUTV its great to start seeing it in action. Above are just two recent adverts we’ve produced, highlighting key programmes throughout December. One to watch will be the Big United Quiz: a competition between the coaches and players with Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves and Michael Carrick.

To mark the launch of MUTV’s new branding on the eve of the Manchester United vs Valencia match, we created a unique promotional giveaway of Old Trafford pitch cuttings. This activity was supported by data capture leaflets, lovely promotional staff, huge banners, a big digital screen and excited fans.
Lee Kelly, Marketing Manager for MUTV said:
“Stiff Rowlands created a unique idea for MUTV that was well received by the fans. Under tight timescales they were well organised, methodical and innovative. This approach helped us create a seamless event at an important time for MUTV.”

Next Thursday, 11 December is the deadline for voting yes or no to Greater Manchester Transport Congestion Charging. Excited? Us too. Over the past month we’ve seen widespread campaigning from both sides. We assisted photographer Paul Moffat and Connectpoint in the creation of Stagecoach’s ‘Vote Yes’ campaign by hand-painting the typography. Supersides, passenger panels, posters and vinyl decals ensure that this is one bus that won’t be missed.

The Children’s Workforce Development Council exists to support the implementation of Every Child Matters, the government’s new approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19. Their work supports over half a million people involved in childcare provision, learning mentorship, education welfare, foster care and social care. But we bet you already knew that, right?
Well, direct marketing agency Red C and photographer Paul Moffat got us involved to help create imagery for CWDC’s Early Years Professionals campaign. The concept features future statesmen and stateswomen in newspaper headlines to convey the importance of a good start in life.
Concept, Copy and Art Direction by Red C, Photographic elements by Paul Moffat, Newspaper design by Stiff Rowlands, Retouching by Fluid, Cityscapes by Studio Liddell.

DeVere Deluxe Hotels wanted to send a very, very early Christmas mailer with a difference. We helped the lovely guys and girls at LOVE get festive and produce a beautifully crafted booklet. It was also great to work closely with Harinder Bajwa, one of LOVE’s copywriters, who’s dead good with words’n’stuff.
Where shall we have our Christmas party this year?
