Leading fashion and retail recruiters People Marketing approached us recently for a complete brand refresh. We responded with a simple idea: to make the people at the heart of their business part of the actual brand.
Elaine Mulvihill, Business Development Manager (pictured bottom right with the knitted dress), said:
“We are delighted with the exciting, original ideas and designs that Stiff Rowlands have produced for us as part of our re-branding exercise.”

Today it’s cold and raining which reminded us that our little Smoking Outdoors book got a big double page spread in The Drum the other week.

Next Thursday, 11 December is the deadline for voting yes or no to Greater Manchester Transport Congestion Charging. Excited? Us too. Over the past month we’ve seen widespread campaigning from both sides. We assisted photographer Paul Moffat and Connectpoint in the creation of Stagecoach’s ‘Vote Yes’ campaign by hand-painting the typography. Supersides, passenger panels, posters and vinyl decals ensure that this is one bus that won’t be missed.

We’ve just launched our first book. Smoking Outdoors is a collaboration with photographer Chris Leah and writer Jez Clark, created in reaction to the UK smoking ban. You can find out more and grab a very limited edition copy of the book here.

We’ve recently been involved in a exciting project at McCann Erickson working alongside one of our favourite copywriters Jez Clark. Due to Confidentiality Agreement 8.1 to 8.6 we can’t talk about the great work we did or who we did it for. So, here’s a picture of the office we were working in. One of many reasons why everyone at McCann’s is so happy.

Who said photographing children and animals was hard work? All that was needed for everyone to pay attention at the Monkey Forest was a handful of grapes and a bag of sweets.

A beautiful day to be stuck down a rat infested, disused Eurostar access tunnel – OK so the rats were of the 2D, spraypainted variety made infamous by Banksy – as this bank holiday weekend The Cans Festival played host to a plethora of stencil graffiti artists old and young. We even saw some kids as young as five having a go. Since our invite must have got lost in the post, we dusted off our scalpels and spray cans and took advantage of the open submission policy of the event. On arrival we were allocated an excellent spot next to a pile of bin bags and Tesco carriers to create our masterpiece in front of a crowd of onlookers. No pressure then. Much can-shaking and minutes later, this was the result. Ta da!

Music promoters A&R asked us to come up with an event identity for their Futuresounds showcase. We responded with a unique concept that used their logo as the basis for lightwriting (timelapse photography of moving light sources). The results were striking and made a refreshing departure from the clichés of urban music graphics, innit.
